The
Queen's Body Guard |
WANTS The Queen's Body Guard of the Yeoman of the Guard was created some 522 years ago and has literally generated tons of material in books, letters, images and official orders. It has also been graced by famous characters such as Sir Walter Raleigh whose history is well documented. Much material is still in the public domain, but not all. Most of the archived history was destroyed in a fire at St James' Palace in 1807 so there are gaps in our history, especially the roll of The Guard. It's a shame that we can't mention all of those men that proudly served amongst its Officers, rank and file. The law of averages says that there has to be images and letters etc in family archives or lost in dusty trunks in attics that would help fill the gaps in our long history. Our site functions because of researched material, as indeed all other sites do. Any material that you feel might be of interest to The Body Guard will indeed be of immense importance to us. It may be used on this site and of course an acknowledgement will be made to you for donating it. Thank you in anticipation. Please send donated material to either:
